The international investments position statement (i.i.p.) provides data on the financial assets and liabilities of Cypriot residents vis-ΰ-vis non-residents at the end of a year. The Central Bank of Cyprus compiled a full i.i.p. statement for the first time in December 2003, with reference to end-2002 positions. For the years from 1999 to 2001, partial i.i.p. statements, with the exchange control definition of residency.
Not included in these tables are positions of Brass Plate entities (BPs) because such entities are subsidiaries of foreign parent companies with main activity to channel funds through our country, and thus their influence on the current international claims and liabilities of the Cypriot economy is very limited.
